Buying and building a home remotely

The pandemic forced builders all over the country to shift their priorities and processes for the safety of their team, homeowners and potential buyers. Wilkinson Homes adapted as needed, and some of those solutions will stick around long after things return to normal.

Before the pandemic, it was much rarer to hear about homeowners purchasing their homes before ever seeing it—but this concept became reality for so many people in the past year and a half. Wilkinson Homes had plenty of experience selling homes to long-distance buyers with an accessible, virtual experience prior to 2020—but our team really upped their game for customers amid the pandemic.

Find what fits your needs

When starting the search for a new-construction home, sometimes you just need to talk through the needs and wants of your next space. There’s the non-negotiables, like number of bedrooms, garage size, quality craftsmanship and energy efficiency—but then there’s the bonuses, like a home office, formal dining room, vaulted ceilings and large walk-in closets. When you speak with someone from Wilkinson Homes over email, text or call, they can guide you to the best floor plan for you. If there isn't a standard plan that accommodates your requests, Wilkinson encourages customization of our existing floor plans or building a custom home altogether.

Tour homes and neighborhoods

It can be hard to get a feel for a home or floor plan without an in-person tour. But when that’s simply not an option, turning to virtual and online technology is the next best thing. A flat outline of a floor plan can’t accurately depict the flow between rooms, showcase dramatic high ceilings or display the details that make such a difference in our homes. And while photo galleries and video tours are obviously necessary and helpful, the ability to “walk” through a home gives a much better sense of the space itself once the work is completed by the Wilkinson team.

Our library of virtual tours give customers a better feel for some of our most popular floor plans. Using Matterport’s virtual tour technology, you can take a private tour of one of our homes from anywhere and on any device. But if that still doesn’t offer the inside scoop you’re looking for, our team is happy to walk through a model home for potential homeowners via video conference like FaceTime or Zoom.

The community you choose is just as important as the floor plan, which is why our team can also send videos, photos or conduct video chats to show off the neighborhood.

Conduct the process virtually

After signing the purchase agreement via docusign or other virtual option, our team will keep an open line of communication with you throughout the process of building your new-construction home. Progress walkthroughs, personalization and finish selections can all happen partially or completely virtually. No matter how the home buying journey will look for you, we’re happy to meet you exactly where you’re at.

Whether you’re moving from across the city or across the world, the team at Wilkinson Homes wants your home buying experience to be as stress-free as possible. Our business was built on the philosophy of pouring our heart and soul into every home—and that applies even more to ones the owners can’t check up on in person.
